McKenzie Ariana Kerry, 26, is a corporate trainer and community leader. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and minors in Communication Studies and Women’s and Gender Studies. Shortly after graduation, she moved over 1,000 miles to launch her career in Des Moines, IA. McKenzie works as a Learning & Development Consultant for Principal Financial Group, a Fortune 250 company, where she drives inclusion as Co-Chair of the African American/Black Employee Resource Group.

McKenzie believes in Mary Church Terrell’s quote, “lifting as we climb,” and invests in the next generation through community involvement. She serves as a Board and Industry Member for Iowa DECA, an organization she led as Chapter President in high school. She is also a Workplace Mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa, a Team Captain for the volunteer group supporting Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates at East High School, and a two-year board member for the Young Professionals Connection. Additionally, she’s a rookie member of the Flightline Cheer & Promo Team supporting the Iowa Barnstormers. McKenzie is a graduate of the African American Leadership Academy and the DSM Fellowship Program.

In her leisure time, McKenzie enjoys listening to podcasts, traveling, spending time with family, thrill-seeking activities, and taking long walks along the Des Moines River with her 2-year-old puppy, Spencer.
